Tiny Forest Academy
TFA is fortunate to be located on 78 acres of privately owned land in Tiny Township. Complete with mixed forests, a small maple bush, a clearing with a great tobogganing hill, and walking trails for days, the land lends itself well to an ever-expanding range of learning opportunities.
Long, established trails, and new ones just waiting to be explored.
Features of the property
78 acres of shady, coniferous and deciduous forests (Great for maple syrup!)
Low lying water in the spring and summer for amazing puddles and mud pits
Boulder/wood garden for climbing and adventure play
Large, open clearings for games, complete with a small but long hill for tobogganing in the winter
Home base with fire pit and hammocks
Screened-in shelter to escape especially buggy spring mornings.
Several warming shelters for severely inclement weather, warming up, and storage of gear.
benefits to Private Property
Because the property is privately owned, risk assessment is made easier due to a lack of unexpected changes or disruptions to the land or surroundings, the way that using public land does (dog walkers, horseback riders, campers etc.). We are also able to easily remove excessive risk (large dead trees etc.) with use of our tractor, chainsaws etc. before and after program hours.
The children at Tiny Forest Academy also have the ability to form new gardens, care for animals, build forts over the long term, create new trails, and more. We are not obligated to take down whatever we build that day. This allows for long term goals to be set, and for them to be seen through until the end!
