Required before your first day:
- Current Standard First Aid CPR-C
- Clean Police Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening (in the last 6 months)
- A LOVE and resilience for being outdoors in ALL weather :)
Possible Assets:
- OCT, ECE, Forest School Practitioner's Course or a speciality in music, art, nature etc.
- Fluent French-Speaking
Your Role/Duties include:
Work and communicate effectively with your teaching team (average of 2 other educators, 15 students)
Communicate student learning to parents through documentation and discussion, post on a rotating schedule a learning story and photos.
Support children in their exploration and extend their learning by providing resources and encouraging inquiry
Model care and respect for the natural world
Provide positive solutions and guide children through conflicts in a respectful, caring manner
Ensure the safety of children while engaged in forest play and in all areas of our forest
Programming preparation and clean up
Showing initiative, leadership, organization, and flexibility
Daily planning and debriefs with your teaching team
Timely and effective communication with your fellow teachers and administration.
Compensation:
Pay begins at $17-$19/hour depending on experience and certifications, and is dependant upon a 3 month/1 term probation period with a chance for significant pay increase following a Performance Review.
The ideal candidate will:
Be excited to connect and learn with (and from!) some amazing children
Have knowledge of or interest in the following topics: forest ecology, wildlife tracking, edible and medicinal plants, navigation, bird language, bush craft skills, etc.
Be willing to commit to ongoing learning
Be comfortable working outside with enthusiasm in all weather conditions
Musical/artistic skills are a plus!
French-Speaking is a BONUS!
